The clip was originally posted online by the 52-year-old victim’s son, netizen ‘Raul Fernando Gzlz’, who wrote alongside: “Urgent. I need your help to identify this man who assaulted my mum, leaving her hospitalised in a critical condition.

“I ask for your prayers so that she can recover from the multiple operations.”

The victim’s son has also launched an only crowdfunding campaign on ‘GoFundMe’ to help cover the hospital costs.

State prosecutor Claudia Indira Contreras said: “We are aware of the events surrounding a woman who was injured in a sports shop after being attacked by a man with a baseball bat and who is still fighting for her life in hospital.

“Following an initial investigation, a suspect has been arrested.”

Reports said that a man named Jose Martin is being held on suspicion of carrying out the attack, charged with attempted homicide.

Meanwhile, the victim, identified as Elvia, is still fighting for her life in intensive care. According to the son’s latest update on the GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/elvia-ochoa-apoyo-para-sus-tratamientos), she has survived a 10-hour operation but is still critical, with swelling to her brain.
