This is the moment Russian cops arrest an alleged IS member who they say was planning a terrorist attack after they found bomb-making materials in his rucksack.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) shared the footage of the arrest which took place in the city of Vladikavkaz in the western Russian region of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania.

The FSB report noted: “A Russian citizen, born in 1990, was detained and accused of preparing to place a makeshift explosive device at an administrative building in the republic, after which he planned to flee to the Middle East.”

In the clip, plain-clothes officers can be seen running and arresting the suspect as he lies face-down on a road.

He is then taken to the side of the road where he tells an officer he had driven to the area to “pick up a bag”.

The clip shows how the bag had wires, a plastic bottle, metallic nails and electronic devices inside, which the cops say were the components for an improvised electronic device (IED).

Officials say the suspect had been in contact with other members of IS abroad about preparing an attack.

Criminal cases into “participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation” and “attempted terrorist attack” have been launched against the suspect.

He faces up to 12 years behind bars if found guilty.
