This is the viral moment, viewed more than five million times, when a wife plunges a pair of scissors into her husband after he hits her during a row.

The incident happened in front of shocked doctors and nurses at the Ruzhou City Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in Central China’s Henan Province on 5th May.

According to local police, the couple had been visiting a relative at the facility and began arguing over what they have called “trivial matters”.

CCTV footage from the hospital corridor shows the husband Li, who was identified by his surname, appearing to strike his wife, Wang.

The husband repeatedly hits his spouse despite witnesses including medical staff trying their best to pull him back.

However, during the struggle, Li is reportedly stabbed in the chest and midriff by his wife using scissors, and the security footage shows him standing on the side with a bloodstained shirt.

Nurses and other witnesses at the hospital are then shown wrestling the scissors out of Wang’s hand.

In the video, the injured Li tries to steady himself by holding on to the corridor wall, but seconds later he slips and collapses in a pool of his own blood.

Despite the numerous hospital staff around at the time, authorities said Li was declared dead shortly after following failed attempts to revive him.

They have detained Wang as part of the ongoing investigation.

Unconfirmed witness reports claim the relative hospitalised in the facility at the time was the couple’s son, and that the husband had been drunk when the confrontation began.

No charges had been announced against the wife at the time of writing.
