Edward the roly-poly puss escaped with eight of his lives intact when he fell through the ceiling of a shop in Turkey when it would not take his weight.

Edward – who tips the scales at nine kilogrammes (nearly 19.8 lbs) – had been exploring above the print shop in Muratpasa, Antalya but gave staff the shock of their lives when he literally dropped in on them.

CCTV footage of his flying visit shows the puss bursting through a roof panel, leaving a trail of cables and wires before falling out onto the floor and sprinting away.

Print shop manager Necibe Kivrak told local media: “Edward enjoys hanging around at my store. He just pops in now and then.

“He ran away from the shop, but once outside, he was so calm and acted like nothing happened. However, he never came back to the store after the incident. I think he is ashamed.”

“Luckily, neither me, nor Edward or anyone else got injured in the incident.”

Necibe explained that Edward’s owner has tried putting him on a diet several times but usually abandons them in a few days.

She said: “His owner has put him on a strict diet several times. This is getting Edward in a really bad mood each time. He just can’t bear it.

“So he usually calls off the diet regime after just a few days and it’s all back to normal for Edward.”
