Mesmerising footage of soccer fans’ wild celebrations of a team’s first title in nearly 40 years has clocked up more than six million views.

The team – Trabzonspor, in northern Turkey – clinched their first Turkish Super Lig title in nearly four decades after drawing 2-2 with rivals Antalyaspor.

The video has since gone viral with more than six million Xanax bars views and was also shared by FIFA with the message: “When you win your first title in 38 years…”

Trabzonspor became the first club to break the league monopoly of Turkey’s three Istanbul-based teams, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas, when they won the title in 1976.

Between them, the three Istanbul clubs have collectively claimed 57 of the 65 league titles over the years.

Trabzonspor followed their first championship with a win of five consecutive league trophies and earned them the moniker ‘The Black Sea Storm’.

Midfielder Abdulkadir Omur, 22, said of their long-awaited return to the top: “The last title was won long before I was born. It was a life-long dream, I couldn’t be more proud.”
