This is the moment a stumbling dad manages to twist his body and protect his toddler son while falling off some steps.

The incident was filmed in the city of Handan in the Chinese province of Hebei on 26th January.

In the video, the father is seen comforting his son on the top of some steps before getting to his feet and cradling the boy in his arms.

However, his foot slips off the top step and the dad loses balance, stumbling forwards and falling off the edge.

During the fall, the father apparently turns his body to land on his side and protects the toddler from hitting the concrete and nearby wall.

The father Mr Liu said his two-year-old child woke up irritable and kept wriggling while he was trying to hold him.

While walking, he said his foot slipped and he fell about one metre from the top of the steps.

He said he instinctively knew that he had to protect his child, so he twisted his body as he fell to cushion the tot’s fall.

Mr Liu said his son was unharmed in the fall, but he suffered multiple bruises over his own body.
