Ex-Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao has been called an “honourable man” by Galatasary’s president because the forward is paying for his own treatment on his Achilles injury.

Galatasaray superstar Falcao, 33, has been off the pitch since he suffered an Achilles injury on 1st October during his side’s 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Despite his promising start after scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Kasimpasa on 13th September, Falcao’s career in Galatasaray is currently going through a tough time.

He failed to net a goal in the following four matches he played before suffering the injury which generated some doubts among supporters over the Colombian star’s impact at the club.

He made a statement at the end of October trying to offer an explanation saying: “I am the one to blame for the injury. I was not able to prepare myself well for this season due to my transfer from Monaco.

“When I arrived here I still needed some training but I wanted to play immediately to respond to all the love from the fans. I should not have played until I was 100 percent ready.”

Local media report the striker is paying for his own treatment and using his personal physician in the Spanish capital Madrid where he went after he started to feel pain in his Achilles tendon.

It is unclear how mumch the treatment costs.

The video shows Falcao training as he slowly recovers to return to the pitch.

The act earned him praise from the club’s President Mustafa Cengiz, 69, who said: “Falcao was offered an extension to his contract with Monaco but he rejected it.

“He injured his Achilles out of the desire to play. He went to see his personal doctor in Spain and is paying for the treatment himself.

“He is a very honourable person. He wants to do a lot for Galatasaray.”

Monaco reportedly offered Falcao an 8.5-million-EUR (7.3-million-GBP) contract be he rejected it saying “I am not interested in money, I am bored”.

Falcao is said to be in the final stages of the treatment and is expected to make a return to the pitch on 22nd November for the Super Lig match against Istanbul Basaksehir.

Galatasaray are sixth in the league with 19 points, two points behind first place Sivasspor, but are bottom of their Champions League group with no wins, a draw and three losses in four matches played.
