These images show the severed fingers of a factory worker who accidentally hacked them off in a dough machine before ‘miracle worker’ medics reattached them as also pictured here.

The horror accident happened at a noodle factory in the city of Baiji in China’s north-western province of Shaanxi on 20th August.

Workman Mr Chen, 35, was admitted to Baoji Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital under the care of the facility’s deputy head and food microsurgeon, Jin Wenkuo.

However, doctors and nurses were shocked to learn that Mr Chen’s thumb and four fingers had been left behind in the noodle factory’s dough-pressing machine.

He was instead taken to hospital with all his right-hand phalanges exposed.

Doctor Jin said: “His thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger and little finger were all severed.

“We comforted him as best we could and sent his family members to fetch the digits.”

In a race against time, all 10 of Baoji TCM Hospital’s hand and foot surgeons were called in to assist.

They were divided into three teams which worked non-stop for 11 hours to sew together Mr Chen’s bones, tendons, nerves and blood vessels.

The successful surgery, which is reportedly the hospital’s first such case involving five severed digits, ended just after 9am local time on 21st August.

Mr Chen is continuing his recovery at the hospital, and doctors say he could regain up to 95 percent of his finger function with the help of extensive physical therapy.

Chinese media reports have dubbed the team of doctors ‘miracle workers’.
