Factory Trio Face Charges After Cops Found Young Mum Sucked Into Machine And Crushed Because They Removed Safety Screen

Three people are facing charges after they tampered with a warping machine at an Italian textile factory to increase productivity by removing a safety screen, resulting in it crushing this beautiful young mum to death.

Tragic mum of one Luana D’Orazio, 22, died in the workplace accident in the comune of Montemurlo in the province of Prato in the Italian region of Tuscany on 3rd May.

Now the Prato Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed for company owners Luana Coppini and Daniele Faggi and external maintenance technician Mario Cusimano to be indicted.

The charges the prosecutor wants the suspects to answer are manslaughter and intentional removal of accident prevention precautions.

D’Orazio, who had been working at the factory as an apprentice for around two years, was killed when she was dragged into the machine by her top and then her hair.

The machine had been tampered with by having its protective barrier removed, apparently to increase productivity. Additionally, she was not being supervised by anyone at the time.

A colleague managed to turn off the machine around seven seconds after she got drawn in. However, she had been killed instantly, and the autopsy gave her cause of death as crushing of the chest.

Investigators subsequently determined that if the machine’s protective barrier had not been removed, the fatal accident would not have happened.

D’Orazio’s son now lives with his maternal grandma, Emma Marrazzo, who told reporters her daughter had told her she had previously had a near-miss with the same machine.
