A Russian former headmaster has died after he was urged to knock back a bottle of vodka in one go for social media likes by a blogger who has tattooed his face to appear like the devil.
The incident took place in the village of Podstyopki in the south-western Russian region of Samara Oblast when popular blogger Ilya Gubarev from the nearby city of Tolyatti bought a half-litre bottle of vodka for the man, who appears to have fallen on hard times in the footage.
At the time of the incident, the victim, identified as former school headmaster Nikolay Kolchanov, was sitting on the steps of a local supermarket.
In the clip, Gubarev asks the dishevelled man to down the bottle in one go and he duly obliges as a small crowd of onlookers films with their phones.
Unfortunately, the stunt turned deadly for Kolchanov who reportedly died as a result, according to local media.
The details of his death and where he was found were not reported.
One of the victim’s friends said that he used to have a three-bedroom home and four children, three sons and a daughter.
Netizen ‘Semyon Vasiliev’ said: “Even though alcoholics usually die early, this freaky blogger did not help matters.”
‘Lybov Perevedentseva’ commented: “Poor guy, I feel so sorry for him. It is not okay that someone would encourage him to drink like that. Idiots.”
