This stepmother has been arrested for causing the death of a five-year-old boy by repeatedly kicking him in the stomach in an alleged torrent of abuse – before later posting a farewell to pals hours before her arrest.

Youngster Junjun was taken to Hui ‘an County Decheng Hospital in Tuzhai Town in Hui’an County, in China’s Fujian Province after his stepmother Ms Shi, 33, called the emergency authorities.

The five-year-old died shortly after entering the hospital and doctors found bruises on Junjun’s body and suspected bleeding from a ruptured gut.

The hospital immediately reported her to the Hui’an police and the cops found that the boy’s death had not been caused by disease but from abuse.

His stepmother reportedly realised the police were investigating and wrote a farewell message on social media, posting: “Farewell my dear family and friends, thank you for your love.”

Shi was arrested the next morning and she reportedly admitted to having kicked Junjun’s stomach several times for “some reason”. Junjun is then said to have told her: “My stomach is bloated and a little painful”

Junjun’s mother, who has not been named in reports, helped the police in their investigation and she told reporters: “Shi always abused my boy. I have many photos of bruises on his body. She even used a slipper and boiling water to abuse him.”

Images show the bruising and scalds the youngster reportedly suffered from the abuse and a neighbour provided a video of the stepmother hitting the boy in the face with a stack of paper.

Junjun’s aunt told reporters: “Shi hates Junjun’s mum, that’s why she always beat the kid. Even though Shi is married to Junjun’s dad, they don’t have their own kid. It’s revenge on Junjun’s mum. Shi is a really violent person.”

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged.

Netizens condemned Junjun’s dad, with one writing: “As a dad, why you don’t stop the woman from abusing your kid? Are you blind?
