A dad who allegedly beat his adorable three-month-old daughter to death has been found hanged in his prison cell.

Guards who entered the cell at the Antalya E-Type Closed Prison in the municipality of Kepez in Turkey’s Greater Antalya area found Mustafa Gafar hanged from his bunk bed with a sheet.

Paramedics were called, but they could only attest to the man’s death. His body was then sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute to undergo an autopsy.

News of the man’s death appeared in local media on Saturday, 18th December. His age was not mentioned.

The deceased man was in custody for allegedly beating his own daughter Elif Ada Topcu to death in their fourth-floor apartment in the district of Serik in the city of Antalya on 14th November.

The baby’s mother Beyza Nur Topcu, age not reported, said she had argued with her partner about the rent.

The argument quickly turned violent and the man started beating her, according to local media at the time.

The sound of the woman being beaten woke up their young daughter, who started to cry. The dad then reacted to his daughter’s cries by allegedly beating the youngster in the face and head.

The baby ended up covered in bruises and her mum took her to hospital, where she was told the youngster needed to see a neurologist the following day.

She went home with her daughter and put her to bed, only to find her unresponsive and foaming at the mouth the following morning.

The emergency services were called to the scene, but they were only able to attest to the baby’s death.

The woman then reported her partner to the police and he was swiftly arrested.
