This footage shows doctors and nurses in a state of panic as sirens ring out after a hospital wing catches fire and patients are forced to evacuate.

Images coming out of the People’s Hospital of Tongzhou District, which is in Nantong in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province, show flames burning on one side of the hospital building on 2nd October.

The large blaze appears to have started in a first-floor room, and the fire can be seen spreading upwards to the floor above as medical staff and hospital visitors are ordered to evacuate the two-storey building.

In the video, the flames can be seen burning out of control right outside the corridor window of a neighbouring hospital wing.

Doctors can be seen making their way downstairs as additional images show the blaze not appearing to have spread to the side.

The incident reportedly happened at 2pm local time, with members of the local fire service dispatched within minutes to tackle the blaze.

The fire was brought under control, and there have been no reports of casualties at the time of writing.

The authorities are still investigating the incident, and it is unclear whether it was triggered by an accident or arson.
