This is the shocking moment a wild elephant smashes its way into a cowshed where it attacks cows that are tied up inside.
The shocking footage shows the extremely violent assault in which the elephant charges the cows and attacks them with its tusks, and also turns around to kick them with its back legs and even sit on them in the autonomous prefecture of Xishuangbanna in the Chinese province of Yunnan.
Although most elephants are found in India, China also has a small number of wild elephants that are only found in Yunnan province, bordering Burma and Laos.
In the CCTV footage, the elephant can be seen breaking into the shed, where three cows are tied by ropes in a stable.
The elephant attacks the frightened cows, and breaks the rope on one of them, which tries to hide, while the tusker then continues violently attacking the other two using its hind legs and its tusks.
The two poor cows cannot escape as they are tied with a rope as the elephant repeatedly attacks including one cow which is crushed to the ground and eventually kicked and stabbed to death.
Local media confirmed that one cow was killed as a result of the elephant attack.
More wild elephants have been reported by the local residents walking in the area recently and occasionally, if it is a bull elephant, once a year they see a spike in hormone levels known as Musth that makes them very aggressive.
The video gained a lot of comments on the social network Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, such as netizen ‘cabbage’ who wrote: “I instantly hate elephants. My ideal elephant is very docile.”
While ‘Did Xiao Liu wake up today?’ said: “I’m a little curious why cows sleep with such a short rope and can’t get down.”
And ‘small lei’ commented: “Is there any way to save the cow in the corner? It’s brutal and scary.”
