This is the 16-year-old granddaughter of the fallen cocaine overlord El Chapo who wants to become a music star.
Frida Sofia Guzman, 16, is the daughter of the late Sinaloa Cartel boss Edgar Guzman Lopez, who was gunned down in 2008, and the granddaughter of Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, 64, better known as ‘El Chapo’. She is also the stepdaughter of the Mexican professional boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 35.
El Chapo is currently incarcerated in Colorado, in the United States, where he is serving a life sentence.
The 16-year-old girl is reportedly bursting onto the regional Mexican music scene after having performed the National Anthem at a boxing match in Durango, in 2020, and after being a finalist on a reality TV show.
Edgar Guzman Lopez was married to Frida Munoz Roman, the mother of the young singer and who, after the murder of her partner, decided to start a family with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the son of retired boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez.
Frida and Chavez Jr. had two children together, Julia and Julio III. It is currently unknown if the couple is still together, because after the champion’s son returned from a rehabilitation centre, he reportedly repeatedly accused his wife of infidelity and claimed that she does not take care of his children.
Frida Sofia was born in the city of Culiacan, which is located in the north-western Mexican state of Sinaloa, and after performing the national anthem during a boxing match in the state of Durango in 2020, she went on to participate in the reality TV show ‘Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento’ (‘I Have Talent, Lots of Talent’), which is broadcast on the Estrella TV network in the USA.
As a finalist, she came third, and while she did not win, it was reportedly clear that she had a passion for music.
The young woman also has a passion for boxing, taking after her stepfather. On top, she has an interest in modelling, having graduated from high school in 2019. She also reportedly enjoys travelling, having visited France, the UK, and several locations in the United States.
