This is the moment members of El Chapo’s cartel brutally whip a man who had allegedly recorded himself destroying the sign of a popular tourist beach in the state they operate in.

The incident came after a video of a group of young vandals destroying the sign to the Las Glorias beach in the north-western Mexican state of Sinaloa was posted onto social media where it was widely criticised.

In the video, they can be seen kicking and pushing the colourful sign over and the Governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, condemned their actions and asked citizens to cooperate with the authorities to find and identify the suspects.

A day after the video was published online another clip was posted showing alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel, formally lead by Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, whipping a man they claim was one of the vandals.

In the clip, the gang can be seen repeatedly whipping the man’s topless back as he screams in pain.

He has whip marks all over his back as the beating continues. Local media report the Sinaloa cartel often post videos showing them brutally punishing the alleged perpetrators of crimes in the areas under their control.

A recent case involved the Sinaloa Cartel hitting a man in the bottom as they accused him of committing a crime.

It is unclear if there were any arrests for the vandalism or the brutal punishment.

There has been an increase in cartel violence in recent months as the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) fight for control of drug trafficking in Mexico.
