An Egyptian in Kuwait has accidentally thrown away GBP 20,000 in cash while taking out his rubbish.
The unnamed Egyptian citizen threw the KWD 8,000 (GBP 20,097) in a wheelie bin the area of Jabriya in the eastern Kuwaiti governorate of Hawalli with the rest of his rubbish by mistake.
The worker had the money in a plastic bag after recently cashing a cheque at the bank and accidentally threw that bag away with all the other bags.
He quickly realised that he must have tossed it in the wheelie bin along with his rubbish bags and he went back to the spot to look for his missing money.
However, when he returned to the bin, he found it had already been emptied by refuse workers.
Left with no other choice, the Egyptian worker went to the local police station to report the incident.
As proof, the man showed officers a copy of the bank slip he received when cashing the cheque earlier in the day.
According to reports, the police have opened an investigation, but told the man it would be very unlikely the cash would show up now.
The police probe continues.
