Local media report ten women and six men were arrested for taking part in the orgy where participants were reportedly charged 4,000 EGP (205 GBP) to be involved.

The amount they paid reportedly coincides with the fine Egyptians are being handed for breaking the lockdown and entitled the payee to participate in the orgy and receive a massage.

The local authorities said the illegal orgy had been promoted on social media.

The Egyptian government enacted a nationwide lockdown on 25th March with those caught breaking the regulations facing a fine of up to 4,000 EGP or even a prison sentence.

It is unclear if those arrested have been charged or fined.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University Egypt has registered 3,490 cases of COVID-19, and 264 deaths.
