The 28-year-old ‘Perfect’ singer shared the photo on Instagram for his 29.7 million followers to mark the premiere of the anticipated movie by British director Danny Boyle.

Written by ‘Blackadder’ and ‘Notting Hill’ creator Richard Curtis, ‘Yesterday’ is a musical comedy starring ex-Eastenders actor Himesh Patel as the only person who remembers The Beatles following a mysterious worldwide blackout.

Sheeran, who plays himself in the movie, said on Instagram: “The worldwide premiere of Yesterday is today, movie is out June 28th.

“A Danny Boyle film, written by Richard Curtis and all about Beatles songs. What could go wrong? (Richard wanted Chris Martin originally but he was busy so they got me instead, but you can’t have everything in life).

“Go watch it, and tell your mum about it, she’ll like it too!”

In the black and white photo, Sheeran is seen sharing a sofa with Patel as they both strum acoustic guitars.

Over 560,000 netizens have ‘liked’ the image in the first day of publication.

‘Yesterday’ is not the first time that Sheeran has acted on screen. He has appeared in TV shows such as ‘Home and Away’ and ‘Undateable’, as well as the 2016 film ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’.

However, his appearance on ‘Game of Thrones’ in 2017 was largely slammed by critics and fans of the HBO blockbuster.
