This is the moment a professional climber climbs up the side of a building to rescue a duck stuck on a balcony before the animal can later be seen flying to freedom.

The incident took place in the city of Khimki in the north-western Russian region of Moscow Oblast when local residents noticed a duck was stuck on a small balcony with the owners of the flat having been away for several days.

The concerned residents called the emergency services but the authorities said they could not help as such cases were not their responsibility.

The worried locals then decided to call a professional climber to help free the duck and in the video, he can be seen climbing out onto the balcony below.

The climber, who has not been named in reports, can be seen attaching safety ropes onto the balcony with the duck and climbing up onto it.

He hops over the glass and lifts the duck up before it flies to safety.

One of the unnamed local residents told local media: “People need good stories like this more than ever now, so that we all remain sensitive and attentive to those around us and, of course, to the tiniest of creatures.”
