This is the moment an allegedly drunk woman driver crashes into a restaurant terrace and reportedly injures two police officers enjoying a quiet meal.

The incident took place in the municipality of Buyukcekmece in the Turkish city of Istanbul at around 10.25pm on 12th December.

The CCTV footage shows the car flying through the air before landing in the terrace and smashing through tables and chairs before coming to a stop at the far end.

According to the news site Hurriyet, the female driver, name not reported, lost control of her vehicle and mounted the pavement, wrecking a restaurant terrace and damaging a roadside pastry shop.

The woman, who was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident, was uninjured, however, two officers of the Buyukcekmece District Police Department, who were eating in the restaurant at the time, sustained minor injuries and needed hospital care.

The female driver reportedly lost control of her car and mounted the pavement before crashing through the restaurant terrace and damaging a roadside pastry shop.

The emergency services were called to the scene and medics gave first aid to the two injured officers. They were then taken to a nearby private hospital for further treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman’s vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck and she was taken to a nearby police station to leave a statement.

The police have yet to confirm whether the driver was drunk at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
