This is the moment a drunk stumbles onto a zebra crossing holding a blanket before lying down in the middle of the busy road and falling asleep.

The bizarre scenes played out in the city of Zhuhai in South China’s Guangdong Province on 28th October.

Traffic camera footage from the junction between Shuiwan Road
Yuehai Road shows the unnamed man walking onto the zebra crossing with his blanket and stumbling in front of stopped cars.

He collapses onto the ground and falls asleep, forcing a bemused motorist to go around him and others to avoid the lane he is occupying altogether.

The video shows a female cyclist trying to protect the drunkard by placing her bicycle in front of him as a warning to approaching cars.

Before long, local police arrive and escort him off the road.

Officer Hong Donghong said: “Hong Donghong: The man was unconscious and appeared to be intoxicated. He smelled heavily of alcohol.

“We lifted him and carried him into a nearby park.”

However, the man returns again – this time without his blanket – and stumbles between stopped traffic before lying down on the same zebra crossing a second time.

Police officers and paramedics confirmed that he was heavily intoxicated and took him back to a police station to sober up.

The authorities said the man woke up the next day and claimed he did not remember a single thing that had happened.

The police did not say whether they would punishment the man for disrupting traffic.
