China’s largest food delivery company has sacked one of its drivers for allegedly urinating inside a lift while drunk.

Footage has emerged of the delivery man working for online food retailer giant Meituan Waimai pushing his electric moped into the residential building’s lift on 17th January.

The staff member from Yinchuan, capital of north-western China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, can then be seen climbing off his vehicle and standing in the corner.

The now easily recognisable yellow uniform and logo of Meituan can be seen on his clothes and on the the moped.

For the next few seconds as the lift travels to his floor, the delivery man allegedly leaves a puddle of urine in the corner before casually exiting the doors.

Local residents inspected CCTV images after finding the urine, which they believed may have been left by an irresponsible homeowner’s pet.

They were shocked and angered to learn the culprit was the delivery man, who lives inside the residential building in a flat rented on his behalf by Meituan.

The food delivery firm confirmed the incident, saying the driver was drunk at the time of the incident.

They have since terminated his contract, Meituan said.
