Drugged-Up Majorca Motorist Drives Off Cliff At 124mph

A drugged-up driver in Majorca survived after he lost control of his car at 200 kph (124 mph) and drove off a cliff into the sea.

The incident took place at around 8 am on Sunday in the pedestrian area of Son Veri Nou, in Majorca in the eastern Spanish region of the Balearic Islands.

The unnamed driver, who is 26 years old, was reportedly driving his Skoda Fabia at around 200 kph when he lost control of the vehicle and drove it off a cliff.

Reports state pedestrians had to run out of the way of the car before it fell off the cliff and a group of passing cyclists then jumped into the water to rescue the driver.

The driver reportedly admitted he had taken drugs and alcohol before driving, but the drugs were not specified. He said nobody else had been in the car with him.

Officers from the local police of Llucmajor, the Spanish Civil Guard and firefighters went to the scene to help the victim. In the video, firefighter divers can be seen swimming to the Skoda in the ocean to confirm there were no more victims.

The driver, who is from Majorca, was injured and taken to the hospital Son Espases. There have been no updates on his condition.

He was arrested and placed under police guard. He has been charged with a crime against traffic security, reckless driving and driving under the effects of alcohol and drugs.
