A woman who was transporting over 700 kilogrammes of cannabis in a rented car was busted after she was robbed and called the police to help find the car.
The drugs were later found in the vehicle, which had been ditched by the side of a road by the thief.
The woman, unnamed but reportedly 32 years old, had rented the vehicle and used it to transport the drugs when she was robbed and called the cops in Campo Mourao, a municipality in the state of Parana, in Brazil, on Wednesday, 18th January.
They later found the abandoned rental vehicle with the help of the car rental company.
The cops reportedly found 710 kilogrammes (1.565 lbs) of cannabis in the back of the car.
The cops said the woman had been approached by the robbers while driving along. They made her pull over and then removed her from the vehicle and took off with it.
Some of the drugs were reportedly found tossed from the vehicle by the side of a road. It is unclear if the suspects knew that the vehicle contained the large quantity of drugs.
The thieves had not been arrested at the time of writing.
The investigation is ongoing.
