This is the moment a man jumps from his mobile crane and lands face-first on the ground after the vehicle starts overturning during demolition works.

The accident was captured by a CCTV camera inside the Moon Bay City Garden residential area in Pingnan County, which is in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China.

The incident happened on the morning of 1st January as the crane operator and his colleagues were busy tearing down illegally built structures along the riverbank, reports said.

Footage shows the lorry-mounted crane having been parked by the water but slowly tipping onto its right-hand side.

The as-yet-unnamed crane operator leaps out of his seat and starts running along the side of his lorry to escape.

He jumps just as the vehicle collapses onto its side, but his legs catch the top of a temporary fence, leaving him landing face-first on the ground.

He is not thought to have suffered any life-threatening injuries, although his exact condition is unclear.

Images taken in the aftermath of the incident show the mobile crane having avoided tumbling into the river after its arm struck the riverbank.

Local authorities are understood to be investigating.
