This is the moment a man writes off a 330,000-GBP Lamborghini Huracan by crashing it headlong into a concrete column with his girlfriend in the front seat.

Mr Chen, 25, is believed to have been attempting to change lanes when he failed to brake in time and slammed the front of the red supercar into a viaduct column at the junction of Gonghexin Road and Liuying Road in Shanghai in East China.

Traffic camera footage dated 8th March shows the Italian sports car crashing into the column, severely damaging the front end of the vehicle which costs a reported 3 million RMB (331,900 GBP) in China after import tax.

The headlights flash momentarily before they are torn out the wrecked engine and the bonnet goes flying too, the video shows.

According to witnesses, Mr Chen, who was with a female companion believed to be his girlfriend, remained trapped in the driver’s seat after the crash.

He was freed by members of the local fire service, with neither he nor his girlfriend suffering any serious injuries.

Reports show the Lamborghini Huracan’s number plates registered to a Shanghai luxury car rental business.

The three-year-old vehicle is leased to interested customers at the price of 5,800 RMB (635 GBP) per day.

Local authorities are still investigating the incident and did not say whether Mr Chen was suspected of any driving-related offences in the crash.
