Driver Jumps Clear Of Broken-Down Minibus On Level Crossing Before Train Smashes Into It

This is the moment a minibus driver manages to jump clear of his broken-down vehicle a split second before a speeding train smashes into it on a level crossing.

The incident was filmed at a level crossing in the district of Pamukkale in the south-western Turkish province of Denizli on 26th January.

According to the news site Hurriyet, the minibus driver, named as Sefa Calik, was with a companion when the vehicle broke down in the thick snow on the level crossing.

Calik and his companion called for a tow truck and decided to wait inside the minibus until they arrived.

However, before the vehicle could be removed from the tracks, an oncoming passenger train, travelling from Izmir to Isparta, arrived and smashed the minibus into scrap metal.

The pair only noticed the oncoming train at the last moment and fled from the minibus in panic.

They managed to jump clear a split second before impact.

The train reportedly dragged the minibus for several metres, leaving it as a mangled mess by the side of the track.

The train continued its journey for another hour after the accident.

In the CCTV footage, one of the occupants is seen opening the door and jumping clear moments before the train smashes into the vehicle on the track.

The man looks on as the train drags the minibus for several metres before crossing the track to check on his companion.
