This is the moment a passenger is flung from a crashing car after the vehicle is launched 30 feet in the air spinning around six times before landing on the ground again.

The dramatic crash saw the out-of-control saloon car flip half a dozen times, with the driver, surnamed Guo, reportedly fleeing the scene and leaving the male passenger and two female passengers for dead.

Authorities in the coastal city of Shishi, which is in East China’s Fujian Province, were alerted to the accident at 2:55am local time on 28th June and arrived to find Guo’s passengers alone at the scene.

Yang Lishuai, with the Shishi Traffic Police Detachment, said: “When we arrived on scene, a man was lying on the ground and the car was upside down.

“Paramedics confirmed that the male victim was already dead. We found no sign of the driver at the scene, but we later tracked him down and detained him.”

Guo, who was driving the group back from a party, lost control of the car when going around a bend.

The male passenger surnamed Gao suffered fatal injuries after CCTV video showed him being thrown from the overturning car.

The two female passengers, who have not been named, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Guo is in custody as further investigations continue.

Shishi police have declined to comment on whether he is accused of drink-driving.
