This is the moment a woman finds a sobbing six-year-old boy crouched on the roadside in the freezing cold after reportedly being left there by his dad.

The incident took place near the village of Novominskaya in the south-western Russian region of Krasnodar Krai when animal activist Anzhelika was on her way to rescue a stray dog.

In the footage, a young boy is seen sitting on the roadside in the cold weather without a hat on.

The woman asks him why is he alone and who was driving and the boy replies “dad”.

Anzhelika then asks the child to stop crying and that she will help him “look for his dad”.

The lost boy was taken to a nearby police station where officers tracked down the dad within a few hours, according to reports.

The father explained that he went to look for his son’s hat after it was accidentally sucked out of the car window.

He told his son to wait for him, but while he was looking for the hat he saw the boy enter the woman’s car.

According to reports, the boy also told cops that his father had dropped him off on the roadside to go look for his hat.

The youngster was handed over to his mother and the police reportedly let the dad off with a warning this time.
