The car careers over the central reservation before crashing head-on into an oncoming red car.

The red car’s roof is ripped off the vehicle in the collision while the front of the silver car is seriously damaged.

Local media report the driver of the red car was instantly killed in the accident while the two people travelling in the grey car were uninjured and presumed to be inebriated at the time of the accident as empty beer cans were allegedly found in the grey car.

They reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

When referring to the people travelling in the grey car, a police spokesperson told local media: “They were uninjured in the accident. They were travelling in the direction of Toluca, already drunk at the time, they lost control and drove over the railing.”

None of the people involved in the accident have been identified. It is unclear if there is an open investigation.
