Drink-Driver Ploughs Into Toll Booth With Worker Inside

This is the moment a suspected drink-driver ploughs into a motorway toll station crashing straight into a concrete divider before flipping over and smashing into a booth with a worker inside.

The startling incident occurred in Gejiu City, in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in South West China’s Yunnan Province and was recorded by a CCTV camera at the Xidu motorway toll station.

In the video, a white car and be seen speeding towards the station and the driver does not slow down. The car crashes into a concrete divider and is sent spinning through the air before crashing into one of the booths.

The booth is knocked out of place and images show how the car ended up upside down.

Local media report there was a worker in the toll both at the time of the accident and they were sent to hospital for treatment on serious injuries.

The Political Office of Gejiu Public Security Bureau told local media: “The driver Mr Lu’s breath alcohol detection has reached the drink driving limit, he is suspected of drink driving.

“The police have sent a blood sample for inspection, and are waiting for the results. In addition, Lu was driving another person’s car without a license.

“The suspect, Mr Lu, has been detained by police on suspicion of dangerous driving.”

The injured toll booth worker is said to be out of danger with stable vital signs.
