‘Star Wars’ legend Mark Hamill has admitted mixing up the American flag with the flag from Malaysia in a Twitter rant against Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg.
The 68-year-old actor, who recently appeared in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, became an online hit in Malaysia after accidentally tweeting the Malaysian flag instead of the own from his own country.
The outspoken actor, who famously slammed Rian Johnson’s previous Star Wars instalment ‘The Last Jedi’, criticised Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for allowing political adverts to appear on the social network, according to reports.
He wrote: “So disappointed that Mark Zuckerberg values profit more than truthfulness that I’ve decided to delete my Facebook account. I know this is a big “Who Cares?” for the world at large, but I’ll sleep better at night.”
Hamill then used the hashtag “Patriotism Over Profits” before finishing the tweet with a money bag emoji and a flag of Malaysia instead of the US flag.
After the error was pointed out, the ‘Empire Strikes Back’ star retweeted a photo of the two similar flags side-by-side with the message: “Now that we all have had a good laugh at my expense for mistaking a TEENY-TINY flag of Malaysia with a TEENY-TINY old Glory, the fact remains the same.
“No country measures their worth in [money bag emoji].”
He added: “I accidentally blundered into a LOAD of Malaysian followers!”
According to local media, Hamill’s tweet generated a lot of excitement in Malaysia and fans begged him to visit the country one day.
The American actor said that Malaysians are the nicest accidental friends he could ever hope to make.
Meanwhile, netizen ‘Malek’ told Hamill that there is a village in Sarawak called Padawan, a term used for Jedi trainees in the Star Wars franchise. However, the Twitter use added that he has been unable to find any Jedis there.
