The unnamed suspect was caught on CCTV cameras using the cards at stores in Oaklahoma State, USA, on 2nd January.

But the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office was mocked mercilessly when they tried to describe the crook.

In a Facebook statement obtained by Newsflash, they said: “Do you recognize this Johnny Depp lookalike?

“This guy used stolen credit cards to buy merchandise at several local Lowes stores Monday. He drove off in a maroon sedan.

“If you know who he is, we sure would like to talk with him.”

The appeal baffled social media users who pointed out the fraudster looked nothing like the Pirates of the Caribbean star,

Facebook user Flaco Suede said: “I’m thinking he looks more like Brad Pitt, but I’ll keep an eye out.”

Another one, named April Pearce, commented: “I feel like they just used the name Johnny Depp to gain attention because there is no resemblance beyond the hat.”

Then a third one named Struggle Isreal joked about the star’s USD 1 million defamation settlement from his ex Amber Heard.

They said: “Can’t be Johnny, he’s not broke. If you said Amber Heard I’d believe it.|”
