Dog Lover Crosses River To Rescue Pooch In Floods

This is the moment a bighearted civil servant traipses through a surging river during floods to save a stranded dog.

The moment was recording during the swelling of the river Babasac in the municipality of Imuris in the Mexican state of Sonora in northern Mexico.

According to local media, a civil servant from the local Civil Protection Office Mario Lopez Galvez did not hesitate to go into the water to save the pooch which was being dragged by the strong current.

The footage shows how Lopez Galvez pulls the dog against the powerful current by its lead and walks through the water with it to safety while the animal appears to be exhausted.

The video has been widely shared on social media with netizens celebrating the man’s courage.

Sonora Journalist ‘Mary_Montijo’ wrote on Twitter: “He could have gone unnoticed and you could tell me it is his job, I agree, but he also put his life at risk to save it (the dog).”

The clip has been viewed 12,200 times on the Facebook page ‘Rescate Animal Hermosillo Sonora” where it was first shared.

Reports said that the state of Sonora was hit by heavy rains on the 28, 29 and 30 of November that caused the swelling of the Babasac river.
