Doctors Remove Huge Leech From Boys Nose Where It Spent Weeks Wriggling Around

This is the moment doctors remove a giant leech from a young boy’s naval cavity two weeks after it crawled in.

The boy, who was not named, underwent an operation to remove the leech from his naval cavity in Luoping County in the Chinese province of Yunnan on Tuesday, 2nd November, according to local media.

The child’s family first became concerned about the boy when they noticed that he had been suffering from a blocked nose for over two weeks.

They initially assumed that it was just a cold but the symptoms slowly got worse and eventually he began suffering from nosebleeds.

The boy was admitted to the Department of Otolaryngology at the Luoping County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine where doctors carried out an examination of his naval cavity.

The endoscopy revealed that there was a five-centimetre (1.3-inch) leech that had latched onto the boy’s nasal cavity.

As seen in the footage, the doctors used forceps to carefully peel the leech off the nasal cavity and then remove it entirely from the young boy’s nose.

At the end of the clip, the leech can be seen wriggling as the boy stares at the creature that had spent weeks stopping him from breathing comfortably.
