This is the moment a doctor removes a ladybird from inside a young boy’s ear after he suffered discomfort for several days.

The procedure took place at a health centre in the city of Liaoyuan in the north-eastern Chinese province of Jilin, bordering with North Korea, last week.

According to the news site Sina, the eight-year-old boy had been experiencing discomfort in his ear for several days, but his parents thought it was nothing to worry about and told him it would simply pass.

However, after he continued to complain of pain in his ear, the lad’s parents eventually took him to a medical centre for an inspection.

During the examination, the doctor saw a seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata) in the boy’s ear and promptly removed the unwelcome bug.

In the footage, the boy is seen lying on a bed while watching a TV screen of the procedure.

The images show the green bug being carefully lifted out of the boy’s ear canal by a steady-handed medic.

The doctor pointed out that foreign objects entering people’s ears is not uncommon and parents should always seek medical advice if their child is complaining of discomfort.
