Docs Sew Russian Mans Foot Back On After It Is Cut Off By Snow Plough

These images show how doctors in Russia sewed a man’s food back on after it was cut off by a snow plough.

The man, who has been named as Vladimir Porvatov, 34, was recently operated on by doctors in Yegoryevsk, which is a town in the Moscow Oblast region, just outside the Russian capital.

The man’s foot was reportedly cut off by the snow plough, and he said that he asked his colleagues to put it in a bag so that it could be reattached to his leg.

A surgeon at the hospital, Gennady Anufry, said: “Traumatologists first provided fixation of the foot. Then the process of restoration of arteries and veins began.

“As soon as it was completed, they let the blood flow into the foot and saw that it changed colour, turned pink, then the foot was already fixed as it should be with special devices, bone fixation, etc. Ligaments restored. Traumatologists have already dealt with this. Oh, and tendons. The foot is alive.”

The operation reportedly took eight hours and required doctors from several different departments to participate in the process of restoring Porvatov’s limb.

Porvatov said he had been in hospital for “one month and 11 days”, adding “things have changed for the better”.

He said the month had been “hell”, like “in a burning frying pan”. He said: “The pain was hellish – no pills, no injections, nothing at all helped.”

But he can now reportedly walk again with the help of crutches. His leg is reportedly still being monitored by staff at the hospital, but Porvatov is now focusing on his rehabilitation.
