This is the moment a huge gust of wind rips the canopy off a restaurant in a coastal tourist resort as diners scream and run for cover.

The incident was filmed in the coastal town of Kotor in the municipality of the same name located in south-western Montenegro and shared on Facebook where it has been viewed 55,000 times.

According to local media, the tourist region has been battered by severe storms and heavy rainfall in recent days which led to several rescue operations.

In the video footage, people are heard screaming and running for shelter as a large restaurant canopy is ripped off by a strong gust of wind.

According to reports, seven people had to be rescued from the sea by members of Maritime Security and border police in the coastal town of Bar.

Netizen ‘Markovic Petar’ commented: “Everyone knew that bad weather was on the way, but the most important thing for the restaurant is their takings. I feel sorry for the damage caused. I hope no one was injured.”

‘Radenko Bakic’ said: “The waiter is running to give people their bills!”

‘Snezana Perisic’ wrote: “Wow, how it was ripped off! But what were these people doing sitting underneath a canopy in this severe weather?”
