A dentist and his fiancee have died after the car they were in veered off the road and into a canal in Egypt.

The victims have been named as dentist Dr Kyrillos El-Qomos Georgios and his bride-to-be, Jennifer Hany Saber.
The tragic incident took place on the Cairo-Asyut road near the village of Bani Zeid, Asyut Governorate.
According to an unnamed family member, the steering wheel slipped from the dentist’s hand, causing the car to veer off course and fly into the Ibrahimia Canal.
Kyrillos was reportedly the head of a Coptic Christian theatre group at St Ekladios El-Azab Church in the village of Mir.
Police, paramedics, and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene, but they were only able to recover the victim’s bodies and remove the car from the canal.

Hundreds of people reportedly attended their funeral, which took place at St Ekladios El-Azab Church on 20th March.
The authorities are investigating the incident.
