A deliveryman has been sentenced to six months in prison for kissing a British woman in the UAE when he delivered a bicycle to her home.
The unnamed Brit, aged 34, reported the Pakistani deliveryman to officials in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where she was living in December 2019.
The British woman claimed that the unnamed deliveryman first kissed her hand when bringing a bike to her doorstep before pulling her closer to him by her wrist and kissing her again, according to reports.
The 34-year-old complainant had ordered the bicycle on the internet, and the Pakistani man arrived at her Dubai home at around 8pm to deliver it.
She told local media: “I wanted to present my husband with a bicycle on his birthday. Once I opened the door for the employee, I noticed him getting it out of his vehicle.
“I went towards the vehicle to collect the present when all of a sudden he kissed my hand. I pulled it away and entered my home and shut the door.
When the deliveryman brought the bike to her front door, she said that he “pulled me towards him by my wrists and kissed me again”.
According to local media, the deliveryman then sent the woman two WhatsApp messages apologising for the incident.
A police spokesperson said: “He confessed to kissing the complainant’s hand and cheek without her consent, claiming he liked her.”
It is unclear whether the man plans to appeal the Dubai court’s decision.
He is set to be deported when his prison term is up,
