This is the Chinese takeaway delivery man who throws meals at his customers to avoid touching them during the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

The 27-year-old who calls himself ‘Shitou’ runs a small restaurant in the city of Songyuan in north-eastern China’s Jilin Province, where a recent ban on the food and catering industry was recently lifted.

Eateries such as the one Shitou owns are now allowed to deliver takeaway meals to customers who place orders online.

On 18th February, he began sending meals including the ingredients for his popular spicy broth to mask-wearing residents who are still mostly cooped up at home during mandatory isolation amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

In the amusing video he has filmed himself, Shitou can be seen telling customers to stay away and keep their distance as he does expert underarm throws of his packets of food.

He tells one man who is not wearing a mask: “Don’t come any closer! Don’t come near me. Stop!”

To another female customer walking towards him, he says: “Just wait there! Don’t come near me! Catch!”

Shitou told local media: “I’ve been getting a lot of orders, but I’m not making much money.

“I’m selling each meal for 10 RMB (1 GBP). I’ll stop when the orders stop.”

Chinese industries and business sectors began partially reopening on 10th February following an unusually lengthy Chinese New Year holiday, which was extended by the government in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The pneumonia-like outbreak has resulted in 2,247 deaths worldwide – most of which occurred in China – while there are also over 76,700 recorded cases.
