A British holidaymaker was rushed to hospital after she suffered a fall on a cruise ship and hit her head on the deck.

The ship was moving through waters off Gallipoli (Gelibolu), Canakkale Province, north-western Turkey when the incident occurred on 5th September.

The Costa Venezia – which is more than 1,000 feet long – was en route from Istanbul to Izmir at the time of the accident.

The woman was injured in the fall, prompting the vessel’s captain to relay the situation to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety.

The exact circumstances of her tumble are unclear, but Turkish media reported that she had lost her balance.

Upon notification, a rescue boat was sent to the vessel to collect the injured passenger and bring her to shore on a stretcher.
