A notorious female gang member known as ‘Hello Kitty’ despite her murderous reputation has been killed during a gunfight with Brazilian cops.

Rayane Nazareth Cardozo da Silveira, 20, considered one of the most wanted criminals in Rio de Janeiro, was shot in the head on the morning of 16th July and died together with her gangster father during an operation by the Military Police.

Cardozo da Silveira, dubbed ‘Hello Kitty’, was killed along with three other suspects at the shootout at Complexo do Salgueiro in the municipality of Sao Goncalo.

Hello Kitty was considered the second-in-command of the criminal organisation led by her father Alessandro Luiz Viera Moura, who was also killed at the scene.

Prior to her death, she was wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies and homicides in Rio de Janeiro.

The police arrived on the scene at around 6am after receiving information that a family was being held hostage.

A shootout took place and some local residents said they were unable to leave for work out of fear of being hit by a stray bullet.

The police said Viera Moura headed the drug trade in the area of Salgueiro and his daughter took care of the day-to-day running of the operation.

The police also said that Hello Kitty was a regular on the local night scene and liked to post photos of her posing with guns on social media.

The local authorities carried out a major operation to catch the father-daughter team two years ago, but they managed to escape until now, according to the news site G1.

In one of the images shared online she is seen pregnant is reportedly a mother although it was not revealed where her child is or who is looking after it.
