This is the horrific Halloween moment a real-life coffin flies out the back of a hearse and lands on a busy road in Brazil.

The wooden casket is almost crushed by a city bus as it hits its lid while driving past.

Shockingly, the lid slides off to reveal a corpse lying inside as the seemingly unaware hearse driver zooms off.

Grim CCTV video footage shows the body’s face and its shroud inside the coffin at a crossroads in the municipality of Ribeirao Preto, in the state of Sao Paulo, at around 3:30am on 28th October, according to local media.

A passing taxi driver named Cassio Costa thought it was all part of an elaborate Halloween hoax when he first saw initially saw the coffin.

In the shocking CCTV footage, a man can be seen dragging the open coffin to the side of the road and placing the lid back on the casket,

Costa explained: “As soon as I got out of the car and talked to a young man who was already at the scene, he informed me that a passing hearse had left the coffin behind.”

He added: “I have never seen and never imagined witnessing [a scene like this].

“I made a commitment with the police to remove the coffin from the public road and we put it on the pavement.”

Cassio then stated that the coffin was collected by an unnamed funeral home 20 minutes later.

Local media outlets claim to have contacted police to inquire as to whether or not an investigation into the unfortunate incident will take place.
