A man has been found dead on a dirt road with his penis and testicles cut off and placed on top of his body.
Rey Nelson Cadario Moncada, 60, was allegedly killed in the district of Tres Fronteiras in the municipality of Colniza in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso on Saturday night (25th December).
According to the Civil Police (Brazil’s investigative police force), his body was found by locals after it was dumped on the rural community’s main road, close to a hardware store, the next day.
The Military Police (Brazil’s preventive police force) were called to the crime scene, which they cordoned off.
Officers were initially unable to ascertain the man’s identity, but he ended up being identified by his ex-wife later in the day.
Some local media outlets said he was born in the town of Rolim de Moura in the state of Rondonia, roughly 236 miles from the crime scene as the crow flies.
Other media outlets said he was Bolivian. Bolivia borders both Mato Grosso and Rondonia, which, in turn, border each other.
According to local press reports, he had gone to the district in search of his ex-wife. However, he ended up being killed by an as-yet unidentified man.
The motive for the alleged crime is currently unknown.
The body was taken to the morgue for a post-mortem, and forensic scientists are already reported to be at work on the investigation, which is being led by the Civil Police.
