This is the horrific moment a man is assassinated in a hail of bullets in a movie-style shooting as he drives down the road in broad daylight.
A security camera caught the killing as it unfolded in Rio Claro, south-eastern Brazil, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 6th December.
Footage shows how victim Sergio Eduardo Aparecido Fazio da Costa braked at a red light and was immediately approached by two crooks from another vehicle.
After being shot at, he lost control of his pickup truck, which hurtled down the road, mounted the pavement, and crashed into a pharmacy.
Dramatic images show how one of the men went up to the smashed vehicle and pumped dozens of bullets through the driver-side window and windscreen with a rifle.
He then opened the car door and emptied several more bullets into the driver at close range with a pistol.
The crooks managed to escape, while Sergio, who was described in some reports as a “businessman”, died at the scene.
Local media reported that the victim was known to police, who had booked him on several occasions for theft.
Some reports said he had also been booked for receiving stolen goods, drug trafficking, and participation in a criminal organisation.
The crooks’ vehicle was found abandoned on a dirt road and with damage from a possible attempt to set it on fire.
It was discovered to have been stolen in Campinas on 11th November.
Sergio’s relatives have reportedly been unable to proffer a motive for the killing, but Civil Police are investigating the case.
The suspects’ identities are unclear, but fingerprints have been recovered from the abandoned vehicle.
