This is the moment an anonymous BASE jumper leaps off a building in a residential area in the middle of the night and cops are working to identify him.

The video which was shared on social media and is being investigated was recorded by the mysterious BASE jumper whilst leaping from a building on Batalla de Villalar, in the city of Burgos, in the north-central Spanish region of Castilla y Leon which is reportedly around 40 metres (131 feet) high.

In the video, the anonymous BASE jumper can be seen standing on the top of the building when he suddenly leaps off. He rushes towards the ground before pulling to a controlled stop in the middle of a street lined with parked cars.

His parachute falls behind him and he gathers it before running from the scene.

Local media report the jumper could face a hefty fine if he is identified as jumping from the building in the video is banned.

The jump itself is considered complex and high-risk as it was done from such a low height.

The local police are investigating the case but the jumper is yet to be identified according to reports.

Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner, who jumped to Earth from a balloon in the stratosphere, set the world record for the lowest BASE jump ever when he jumped 29 metres (95 feet) from the hand of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
