A Russian dancer who was evacuated from Wuhan during the COVID-19 outbreak has said that being quarantined in a new city has turned her life upside down.

Victoria Makovtseva worked for a dance ensemble in the Chinese city of Wuhan for one year before the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Russian redhead also worked as a model and was popular with the Chinese community in Wuhan, according to local media.

She enjoyed her life in the Chinese city, but was forced to leave when the outbreak started and was reportedly evacuated to the city of Tyumen in south-central Russia’s Tyumen Oblast region.

Makovtseva, who comes from the city of Blagoveshchensk in the south-eastern Russian region of Amur Oblast, spent two weeks in quarantine in Tyumen.

However, after trying to make a new start in the city after receiving a job offer there, the dancer and model soon fell on hard times.

She said: “Everything is now rather complicated. Many things happened to me after the evacuation.

“I have just lost my job, a place where I felt really good. And my friends are now so far from me.”

After taking on a new job in a different field, she found the situation “tough” and found it “hard to get used to” eventually losing the position.

She added: “I am emotionally starved right now as I have no friends or relatives in Tyumen. When I go for a walk, I do not know where to go and what to do. Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed my life.”
