This is the moment a dad’s ‘life lesson’ for his daughter goes horribly wrong when he literally ‘puts his foot in it’ and plunges straight through the ice and into the chilly water, nearly dragging the tot in with him.
Mr Fu, from the city of Zibo in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong, was visiting his hometown to see his parents when he took a stroll with his wife and daughter in the countryside on a sunny winter’s day.
As Mr Fu likes to take lots of videos with his mobile phone, he asked his wife to film him enjoying a moment with their young daughter.
Holding hands next to a frozen pond, the responsible father decided to give his daughter an important life lesson and took her to the water’s edge.
Noticing the layer of ice across the water surface, Mr Fu took the opportunity to tell his daughter that she must never play on the ice, as it can be very dangerous.
While pointing out to his daughter that the ice can often be very thin and unsafe to walk on, he tapped his foot on the surface several times.
However, on this third tap, his foot plunged straight through the ice and he ended up in the chilly water up to chest level.
Meanwhile, still holding his daughter’s hand, Mr Fu pulled her to the ground and partially into the freezing water.
The father’s car was parked close to the pond and the family hurried back to change their wet clothes.
In an arguably a funnier clip than the first, Mr Fu is seen changing his wet clothes at the car while his furious daughter sits in the backseat not saying a word.
He said afterwards that his daughter was scared by his actions and refused to talk to him for a while.
Mr Fu said: “I didn’t think that my mistake would affect my daughter. It was nearly dangerous. I felt very sorry for her.
“After taking the video, I was unable to explain it to her grandmother when we went back.”
